Description

Tucked within the hushed grandeur of the Silent City, St Paul's Cathedral will come alive on the 17th of June with an exclusive midsummer concert in the Cathedral’s rarely accessible Aula Capitulare. Following last year’s sold-out success, A Midsummer Dream returns for one night only, offering an intimate musical experience for a limited number of patrons, where the romantic beauty of classical music meets the timeless atmosphere of one of Malta’s most iconic spaces.

As the sun marks the rhythms of time and God’s creation flourishes, summer itself becomes the muse, its warmth and abundance expressed through music and voice. Guests will begin their evening with a welcome drink hosted by Xara Collection, setting the tone for a refined and atmospheric celebration of summer. Patrons will also have the opportunity to visit the Cathedral thirty minutes before the concert begins, allowing guests to experience the beauty and serenity of the main nave ahead of the performance in the hall.

Guests may also enhance their experience with an exclusive pre-performance guided tour of Mdina in English, led by a professional guide.

The concert programme journeys through some of classical music’s most evocative works, from Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks to Brahms’s Hungarian Dances, the elegance of Haydn’s radiant Sunrise Quartet and the romantic charm of Dvořák’s beloved waltzes.

The concert will be performed by the acclaimed Cordia String Quartet under the musical direction of Jacob Portelli, joined by renowned tenor Cliff Zammit Stevens and hosted by Clare Agius.

Each ticket also entitles patrons to a 10% discount on food at The Medina Restaurant and Trattoria AD 1530 for a pre- or post-concert dinner on the evening of the performance. Table reservations are recommended and subject to availability.

Doors will open at 7:00pm, with patrons invited to explore the Cathedral’s main nave ahead of the performance. A welcome drink will be served from 7:30pm and the concert will begin at 8:00pm with a run time of one hour.

Patrons opting for the pre-performance Mdina tour are requested to meet in front of St Paul's Cathedral at 6:30pm.
